Sammy Shelton #SuperSammyStrong

Sammy Shelton was 8 months old when he was first diagnosed with leukemia. He did several rounds of chemotherapy, which require him to stay a month at a time each round in the hospital  and only get to come home for a week in between rounds before going back to the hospital. After 6 months of chemotherapy Sammy was in remission and got to go home for good, or so they thought . After 8 weeks of being home, Sammy started to get sick again. To Sammy’s mom and dads horror, his leukemia was back. This time has been even more trying for the family. The leukemia cells spread to Sammy’s spinal cord and brain. Sammy has already completed one round of chemotherapy this time around. He has had many miracles along his journey; One being, already having a match for the bone marrow transplant that is needed in order to save his life. Sammy’s mom, Stacie Shelton, hasn’t been able to work since this nightmare started, they relied on both her income and her husband Caleb’s to pay the bills. Sammy’s dad, Caleb, has been traveling back and forth after his shifts to be there with Sammy and Stacie in the hospital. It is an hour drive right now for travel and Sammy will soon be transferred to a hospital even further, close to three hours driving distance. Sammy’s older brothers are being taken care of by their Grandma, Cindy Cornwell, who drives the boys to see their parents as much as she can. The gas bills are adding up, as well as expenses for food, and medical costs. Her and her husband are active members of their church and community, Caleb proudly served his country, and have always been there to lend a helping hand to those in need without a second thought. Please find it in your hearts to help out this wonderful family in their time of need, so they can give all their focus to Sammy’s recovery, instead of worrying about bills.
