Flood waters have wreaked havoc on the Port Arthur, Texas community that I grew up in. I'd like to go and help them out. I'm raising funds for food, water, cleaning supplies. Every little bit helps.
My name is Eric Alexander and I currently reside in New Orleans Louisiana. I am raising funds for the Southeast Texas Region, specifically Port Arthur. I know a lot of attention will be given to Houston, but I wanted to make sure Port Arthur did not go unrecognized. Even though I have not lived there for several years, Port Arthur will always be home. I have many friends who have been affected by this storm, and I want to do my part to help in the recovery process.
The funds raised will be utilized in 3 Phases.
Phase 1: Survival Mode, Already occurred. I purchased and delivered the basic necessities to the area to provide some sort of temporary relief and sense of normalcy to the flood victimes. Items purchased, delivered, and can be seen in the updated photos on the page are listed below, but not limited to:
-Food (non-perishable) -Deodorant
-Water - Diapers(infant-adult)
-Pillows -Toilet Paper
-Blankets -Paper Towels
-Toothbrushes -Batteries
-Toothpaste -Chapstick
-Socks -Hand sanitizer
-T-Shirts -Trash Bags
-Underwear
-Baby
-Formula
-Bottles
-Wipes
-Feminine Hygiene Products
-Etc...
Phase 2: Once the funds are released, I will make a donation to the Por Arthur Alumni Community Group, a 501C-3 organization. They have been huge advocates for the residents of Port Arthur, and I trust that they will properly utilize the funds to continue to aid the community with whatever is needed.
Phase 3: I am going to assemble "do it yourself" home remediation kits including, supplies that people will need to begin the process of gutting their homes. I think this will go a long way in the the rebuilding efforts.
