Help for Amanda
Thank you to everyone who donated to our campaign for Amanda. We have now closed the campaign as we were successful in being able to pay the outstanding fees to Holland College.

We are Dara Rayner and Melissa Munro Bernard and we are Amanda's Canadian mom's. We are trying to raise money to register Amanda at Holland College for the 2020-21 school year.
Amanda came to Canada in September 2019 to play volleyball for the Holland College Women's Varsity Team. This was arranged for her by a sports agent in Brazil. The agent grossly misinformed Amanda and her family regarding their financial responsibility and have left her family in a very difficult position.
She was informed by Holland College when she attempted to register last week that she has outstanding fees for the 2019-20 school year. Fees that Amanda's family were told would be covered.
Amanda’s parents are doing everything they can to support her, but they were not financially prepared to pay these unexpected living costs. She was supposed to go home for the summer and couldn't due to the added costs from the past year.
COVID has only created further hardships for the family; Brazil has the second-highest rate of cases in the world and it is creating further economic hardships in that country. Amanda wasn’t able to travel home when the pandemic struck, and was left without funds or the ability to work in Canada.
Amanda has a scholarship from HC to cover her tuition, but needs support to pay her other student fees and living costs for this coming year as well.
Amanda worked so hard all through high school for the chance to obtain a higher education – and play the game she loves – in Canada. Since arriving, she’s navigated considerable life challenges - and a global pandemic - with a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
She is a self starter and highly motivated. She now has a part-time job, has passed an English test to qualify for her college program, she is ready to go!
We want Amanda to have the chance to focus on her studies and playing volleyball, rather than trying to survive. We want to see Amanda thrive and have the College experience she deserves to have. She is using her part time job to pay her living expenses and rent.
