Zoe's Medical Costs

Zoe Renee Mar was a 16 year old beautiful young lady taken from this earth too soon. Zoe overcame a speech delay and learning disabilities to become active in singing, dancing and acting. She performed in musical theater and show choir with the children's theater, sang in the youth band at church and acted in films. Zoe was pursuing a career in acting.

More important than her talent, activities and accomplishments, Zoe was a kind, caring, loving individual loved by everyone she came into contact with. At church, she greeted new kids and made them feel welcome to youth group. During rehearsals of musicals, Zoe reassured nervous actors and helped them with their make-up. Zoe loved animals and rescued numerous dogs, cats, bunnies, and turtles. Young children flocked to Zoe and there was always one sitting in her lap during downtime at rehearsals. Her spirit was contagious and people looked forward to her greeting whether at church, work or rehearsals. A common comment was "you always knew when Zoe was in the building" because of her huge presence. Zoe had a way of encouraging people (adults included) and pulling them out of their comfort zone.

On May 8, 2017, Zoe succumbed to a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was pronounced dead at 13:14 that day. Zoe was able to save 4 people resulting from donation of her organs. Her legacy will live on through a scholarship fund for the children's theater.

Zoe's ordeal began on May 5, 2017 at 5 AM when her parents noticed an odd breathing sound. When they couldn't wake her, they called paramedics who took her to Chandler Regional Hospital. The emergency room doctor evaluated her and found blood around the brain due to a ruptured aneurysm. Zoe was transferred by helicopter to St. Joseph's Medical Center and spent the next 3 days in ICU until they could administer the test to conclusively prove brain death.

We anticipate significant medical bills exceeding $100,000 in total and are looking for help to defray those costs.
