Zoe Crouse - HOME THERAPY
Donation protected
Zoe Crouse (15), who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, suffered a stroke on November 9th while she was receiving chest compressions during cardiac arrest. The stroke caused significant damage to her brain. The first six months of a brain injury are the most crucial for healing. Zoe spent the first 4 weeks in ICU at UCLA Childrens Hospital and the last 4 weeks in the step down unit where she is today. Zoe's health insurance has denied the coverage for a rehabilitation facility based on her current neurological state. The only way Zoe can get better is with daily occupational, physical and speech therapy. Without these therapies Zoe will make no improvements. The plan now is to bring Zoe home. Insurance will pay for basic medical supplies to make her comfortable. The therapies that she needs will cost about $1200 a day. It's possible - if we can get her therapy at home - that she can reapply for coverage down the line. We are trying to raise an additional $72,000 on top of the initial $13,000 raised so far. This $85,000 would cover just over 2 months of home therapies, with a goal of Zoe making enough improvement that she can be approved by her insurance to enter a rehabilitation facility.
