Einstein’s Medical Bills
Please help! We are asking for donations to help us with Einstein’s treatment and recovery through fully, which may be as much as $5,000+ (excluding further ER visits if needed).
Our boy Einstein became ill the weekend of July 11th after he got through a gate and into a garbage can, where he found and ate a plastic cat food container. We didn’t realize he was in trouble until the next day when he started acting very ill and having urination and bowel issues, and he was trembling and in great pain. We took him to MedVet where they diagnosed him with several possibilities. Since then we have been in and out of vet clinics for checkups, and working with his primary vet, but he is still not well. The veterinarian is having a difficult time identifying the underlying issue and the tests are becoming more and more costly. But, Einstein is our baby; we can’t lose him.
We have been managing his health at home as much as possible to reduce the cost of hospitalization. However, he took a negative turn July 30th again. He is being treated for PLE (protein losing enteropathy) & acute pancreatitis. The veterinarians are concerned that he may also still have a foreign body in his stomach or intestines that they just can’t see in the x-rays and ultrasounds they have completed.
If we do not see improvement from the antibiotics and steroid treatments, the next step they want to take would be a surgery and a hospital stay to recover. Our hope is for him to recover fully with the antibiotic and steroid treatment, but if he doesn’t improve soon, an exploratory surgery is required. A scheduled exploratory surgery will be between $1000-$2000 at his primary veterinarian, and his care up to this point has been over $3200.00. We are afraid that if he takes another turn for the worse emergency care will be required and the vet estimated that at $9,000 - $10,000. So, we are monitoring him closely and trying to raise the money for the surgery.
At this point, we have already overextended ourselves on what we can afford and we are scared that the plastic is going to require the exploratory surgery. So, we are asking for any help we can receive with these veterinarian bills and continued care. Einstein has been with us for over 10 years. We got him as a puppy and gave him our hearts on the day we met. He is more than a best friend, he has been our emotional support in the darkest of times, a comedian and the most loyal cuddle buddy. We love him more than words, he is our son and we will do anything to help him get better. We have so many years left with him.
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. In the event we receive more donations than what is needed for Einstein’s care we will be paying it forward to another dog in need. Thank you for your help.
