Allow me to introduce our family:
The Cats
Elvira - she was a street cat in Oakland, being fed routinely by a local man who owned the alley where she lived. The man was murdered, and Elvira and her kittens were being displaced. When we trapped her and had her evaluated, we discovered she had a broken back leg.
Ebenezer - one of Elvira’s kittens we managed to rescue with her. A total love bug.
Rudolph - another of Elvira’s kittens. VERY shy and VERY attached to Ebenezer. Inseparable.
Simon the Bastard - trapped as a feral kitten on a ranch, needed a home to transition from feral to tame. Still somewhat feral. He’s a little trouble maker and we love him!
Peter Rabbit - abandoned to my care by a former roommate, along with his mother who passed a few months ago from cancer.
Peanut Butter Jelly - EXTREMELY SHY. Rarely enters house. Very loving though. Given to my care after he was diagnosed with asthma and prior guardian wouldn’t provide care.
The Dogs
Bambi - chihuahua, born deaf and had one eye removed as puppy. Adopted from shelter where I worked due to her special needs. Has what’s called a chiari malformation in her brain. Sweetest dog ever.
Thumper - chihuahua, adopted from shelter where I worked where he was surrendered for euthanasia due to being “vicious.” I refused to euthanize him because I believed he deserved better. Extremely small little man, 5#, and has three legs, one being deformed. Only trusts me.
Tallulah - chihuahua, found being given away online, unspayed and unvaccinated. Planned on fostering and finding another home, but her two trial placements have not worked out. She’s a little naughty, but we love her!
Each of these animals have my heart and I promised each of them a forever home.
We find ourselves being evicted from our home of 12 years (the house is being taken off the market). Due to “perfect storm” we find ourselves with no savings at the moment and nowhere to go with nine animals.
Except Iowa! A wonderful friend has offered my family a home and a chance to get back on our feet. We need to raise roughly $3000 to rent a small moving truck to bring our humble belongings. We are losing everything we’ve known, we are moving 2000 miles away to keep our family together, and it would mean the world to not have to acquire all new furniture and even leave sentimental items behind.
If you’re able to help us reach our goal, we are so grateful. We just want to stay a family.
