Help Bruce Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Bruce was born April 15, 2015. We rescued him from going to the pound through a mutual friend. From the moment I saw him I knew he was the one for us. They had called him Houdini because of how crafty he was with escaping the yard and can't deny that we were hooked. But he didn't look like a Houdini to us. He looked like a Bruce (Batman) and so that is what his name became. He definitely lived up to his name. Or so he believed. Whether it was causing a bit of trouble or tirelessly trying to defend us... He did it. But not without hesitation. I remember the first time he met an opossum. He ran straight up to it and was so startled he pooped himself! What a horrible Batman he was indeed. But he grew in strength as well as height and became a very good protector. Bruce has grown into an amazingly sweet, protective and caring dog. One that no one could every truly deserve. But we were blessed to have him and we are grateful for every day we've had him. He would very obsessively walk infront of me while I was pregnant with our daughter. And then he refused to leave her side when she was born. He actually tells her father off when he leaves for work. Because what do dogs know of money?! Haha Haha. Bruce just knows he's being left to protect the girls alone. And how dare Chaz leave us while we're all sleeping!!! Still cracks me up. Yesterday Bruce was diagnosed with either bone or joint cancer. Our world was shook and I can't deny there were tears shed. Bruce is more than a pet. He is family. He is our first born. Unfortunately bone cancer treatment isn't effective with dogs. Its practically incurable. Joint cancer on the other hand has a 60% chance for him to survive. The test results came back as inconclusive and we wont know for sure until we amputate his leg. His tumor on his front left elbow will need to be fully removed. We are blessed to have caught it so early. We can either prolong his life up to a year with amputation and chemo or he can truly live his whole life. He is already on pain medication (Rimadyl and Gabapentin) and a pill to strengthen his cartlidge (Rejuvinate.) I know this sounds like a lost cause but it isn't. It isn't for him. It isn't for us. And it is definitely not for our daughter. He was supposed to grow old with her. He was supposed to play ball with her. He has patiently waited to rough house with her. Unfortunately we have a 1 year old and we're looking for a new home. A home that was gonna give him a big backyard. Please help him have that. We have seen plenty of happy dogs without one leg. If you can't donate please just share. The sooner we can get rid of this cancer the better.
