<div>My name is Nancy Davis and I am 36 years old. My significant other and I have three children and live a very fulfilling life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Recently we decided we wanted to have another child.  We successfully conceived and began the process of another birth journey.  We learned some weeks into the pregnancy our baby was diagnosed with Acrania, which refers to the absence of a fetal skull with freely exposed brain tissue to amniotic fluid. Acrania often results in anencephaly, and some believe it is a precursor to all cases of anencephaly. Both can be seen on ultrasound in the first trimester. Unfortunately, the prognosis is uniformly dismal as these are lethal disorders.

<div>We were told by a doctor at Woman’s Hospital our baby would probably not survive if I carried the baby the full term; as over 90% of fetuses with Acrania as a diagnoses do not make it. The doctor recommended we terminate the pregnancy to avoid the physical and emotional trauma.  The doctor initially agreed to perform the procedure and told us it would be $6000 (which we believe to be really high).  They then told us at the direction of the hospital administrator he could not perform the procedure as a result of the recent reversal of Roe vs. Wade and the strict baby termination laws in the state of Louisiana.

<div>We now need to travel out of state to have the procedure done and are in need of funds for the procedure. Please help me secure enough funds to travel to North Carolina and have this very challenging procedure.

<div>The challenge is under Louisiana law. Nancy qualifies for a termination of the baby, but the hospital is refusing to do it for fear of prosecution by the federal and or state government.

The mother shouldn’t have to carry a fetus full term with a definite diagnosis of death.  

She may suffer severe trauma having to go through the process which could cause severe harm to her.


One has to consider the irreversible damage this is going to cause along with the long term PTSD.
 
All of this has been mentally exhausting .  Whether she realizes it or not. And we feel Nancy is in need of therapy to ensure she is mentally stable to properly care for her other three children.<br />

<div>All other remaining proceeds will be transferred to the nonprofit organization-Nancy Davis Foundation to ensure we also help other unfortunate individuals fighting the same or similar challenges. 

The main purpose of this organization is to help individuals who have experienced trauma,
as a result of a developmental defect during pregnancy, by providing resources, mentoring, education, and financial support for medical pregnancy terminations; as well as be a leader in the world of pregnancy termination reform.<br />
