Korben's Cause

. On March 20th we found out we were expecting our second child, and on July 1st we found out we are expecting a baby boy. We are giving him the name Korben William Russell.
Immediately after we were told the gender, we were told that he has: clubbed feet, and worst of all Hydrops which is when abnormal amounts of fluid buildup in two or more body areas of a fetus. In the severity that Korben has this condition, it is likely fatal. We were told by a specialist that we statistically have a zero percent chance to have our son born alive or even make it to full term. If he does make it through pregnancy and delivery, then there will be several new obstacles and intensive care that must be provided. We have been, and are currently meeting with specialists in different fields including: ICU doctors, pregnancy specialists, and neonatologists. We have more and more appointments filling our schedules quickly and we cannot afford even our most basic bills. Not including the medical bills, missing work, hospital visits, etc.
This account is meant for helping us through this unexpected and extremely difficult situation, to help lift some of our financial stress, and to help prepare us for the worst while we focus our time on providing the best care we can for Korben as well as our 2 year old daughter Olivia.
We have looked at costs of medical bills that will not be covered by insurance, travel, maternity leave, specialist visits, and necessary time off of work. We believe this amount to be the most reasonable for us to keep making ends meet at this time. If things go the way doctors believe that they will, then we will also have funeral costs and other associated costs. We are not giving up our hope that our son is going to make it, so we have not looked into those costs in detail at this time.
Having a child is supposed to be a wonderful and exciting experience. As a parent, being told that it's very possible that you might only get to see your baby for a few hours or even minutes, and possibly not alive at all to say hello or goodbye has opened up a completely new set of emotions we've never felt before.
These emotions have completely overwhelmed us in every aspect of life. We believe everything happens for a reason, and no matter what we are not giving up on our precious little boy. Our hearts and prayers are with him every moment as well as all of yours are. We cannot say thank you enough for your kindness, support, and generosity through this difficult time. Words will never express our gratitude to everyone involved.
Thank you!
