My best friend Floss recently acquired a  life changing brain injury following a car accident. This has inspired me to organise a boxing day dip for Headway, a charity that raise awareness for brain injuries and give support to sufferers and their families.  All kind donations will go to this charity, but more than anything, our goal in being a part of this event is to raise awareness of the reality of brain injuries and try and remove the stigma that I have found seems to surround them while being on this journey with Floss and her family; Floss' life isn't over, it is simply heading in a different direction and although the destination is unknown, with the support and understanding of people around her it can and will be made positive. Because of this I think it is so important to educate ourselves on brain injuries and not be scared to talk about them as that is one of the ways we can be most supportive and respectful to anyone being effected!! A group of us have decided that we are going to dress up and run into the North Sea on Boxing Day to try and shine a light on brain injuries. So far, the people involved are: Grace Tallentire, Cal Baker, Kara Hunter, Josh Mawer, Ellie Wilkinson, Tom Thebe, Heidi Baker, Gemma Semley, Eve Semley and Vikki Lowson and myself, Izzy Semley (if you want to get involved please let me know asap!) Floss is the most fun-loving, crazy person I know and so the Boxing Day Dip just seems to be the best way to fundraise!! It is so important to me that we raise as much awareness as possible for anyone and everyone in a similar situation to her as I have seen first hand how important love, support and understanding are to sufferers and their family through what can be an absolute emotional rollercoaster.
