Kitt's Cancer Fund

Our mom, Kathleen (Kitt) Noel / Walneck, has been battling melanoma cancer  for the last 14 years with periods of treatment and remission. Unexpectedly, the cancer broke remission becoming more aggressive than ever. Her melanoma, already malignant, had silently and explosiviely metastasized. The diagnoses had been bumped up to stage 4 - spreading to the lungs and abdomen, where it triggered 2 more cancers to grow; and an additional 16+ tumors found within her brain.  Around the end of November 2016, she received a prognosis for about 3 weeks to live. My family was terrified at the idea of our first Christmas without her.

But my mom is resiliant. She went forward with many different treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. Through all of it she continues to remain positive, trying to never show how difficult it all is. Her first thought is to always put her family first, even when something as simple as moving around the house is difficult.

Now, a full year after her cancer broke remission, few - if any - treatments are available as the cancer continues to take over.

Treatment and medication is extremely expensive. Some medications can cost a year's salary each month. Insurance is helping cover some of these costs, but the cost of insurance itself is not trivial. Come 2018 the deductibles, and out of pocket maximums are reset. And my parent's financial burden is already exceedingly overwhelming.

Our mom and dad are doing all they can. Our dad is a constant support to my mother, waking at all hours in the night to check on her and help her through the days. He is also working as much as he can to provide the finances they need. Our aunt and mom's mother help where they can as well.  Us kids (Jonathan, Stephanie, and Chris) are doing what we can even though it often feels like not enough.

The harsh reality is that our family needs financial support. Especially as our mom will begin to need hospice care. Any amount you're able to give will be invaluable. The financial help from whatever you decide to donate will help cover the medical expenses already mounting and those that are coming in the new year.

Please pray for our mom, dad, and family; even if it is not somethng you do, your thoughts and prayers mean a lot to us. This is very, very difficult to speak about, much more so to share and publicize - but I know our parents need the help. Anything and everything will be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you for being apart of that help - in every way.
