A little bit of Happiness

Donation protected
This year has been a complete downer for all young people across the world. I don’t need to explain it because we have lived through it all in our own ways.

In the UK, schools have had to battle with the Government, Unions, worried and scared parents and teachers, not to mention the kids, while staying positive and enthusiastic for the young people in their care. If the job wasn’t already tough enough, this year really tested their resilience and continues to do so.

Having worked in Education in a previous life, I know all to well how hard it is to battle with the need to stay positive and bubbly so the students you are teaching are taught in an encouraging environment. Teachers and young people need all the help they can get, so when I discovered this fantastic newspaper, https://thehappynewspaper.com/ that wrote about only positive and happy things I signed up… having never read a newspaper in my life!

Unfortunately for schools to get this amazing newspaper for free, two people need to be signed up for a subscription (its only a small run newspaper), but I believe that this can be a great tool for schools, teachers and students to use in the classroom. It is very hard for teachers to research new material for lessons especially with their limited ‘Planning, Preparation and Assessment time’. I remember being desperate to share positive news stories in morning registration but always found it hard to source something.

So, I thought that this would not only help teachers out but also provide some positivity for young people, helping in a small way towards positive mental health.

I've decided to start small and look at my own borough first, the London Borough of Enfield, where I have lived and worked all my life.  There are 164 schools/ colleges in Enfield, according to www.gov.uk made up of 94 x primary schools, 38 x secondary schools and 32 x sixteen to eighteen aged schools/colleges.

1 x paper subscription for each school = £3.99 per quarter (including postage).

The amount I am trying to raise will cover the first quarter, in March, for all 164 schools to receive 1 x copy of this newspaper for their Library/Learning Resource Centre.

I would love some help to raise money to purchase this ‘little bit of happiness’ for each schools’ Library/Learning Resource Centre in the London Borough of Enfield.

Everyone needs some happiness in their life’s right now and this newspaper shows that even when everything seems terrible, positive and hopeful things can be achieved.

I know how fantastically generous people are and I will keep my fingers crossed to be able to spread even more happiness nationwide? You never know!

Thanking everyone in advance X
