Ziggy’s Liver Shunt

Donation protected

Hi everyone,

Here’s Ziggy - cute, adorable, and small. We got Ziggy pretty early, he was only 9 weeks and full of energy. A month into having Ziggy, things started taking a turn. He had a loss of appetite, was always sleeping, started drooling excessively, shaking like crazy, and was always bumping his head into the wall. Everyone kept telling me it was normal and he was just a puppy, but I knew things were getting bad. I’ve been really reserved talking about this (mainly because I just cry lol) but after a check up with the vet and an ultrasound later, we found out that he has a congenital liver shunt. In simpler terms, he’s so small because the congenital liver shunt is basically stunting his growth. The toxins in his liver aren’t breaking down properly which is why he’s had a loss of appetite, underweight, always disoriented, lethargic, acts blind sometimes and excessively drools. If not treated he’ll get seizures and kidney and bladder issues.

The emergency vet quoted the surgery at $7300 and it’s honestly a big hit. His CT scan today was already $1700. l know that the pandemic has been hard for everyone and anything helps. Even if you can’t donate, I ask that you simply send a prayer for Zig.

Hope you and your families are staying safe.
