Zig Zag's Medical Expenses

Hi, I'm Bry!

For those who don't know me, I'm an artist and community organizer based in Chicago. I spend most of my time laughing and gathering resources to help other artists pursue their passions.

For those who don't know Zig Zag, he's been the sweetest addition to my lil' life and is my best friend. He goes by many names; Zig Zag, Ziggy, Ziggy Smalls, The Notorious Z.I.G., Zigworth Zaggington III, Zigariah Zagariah, and the list goes on.

He can't laugh (to my knowledge) but always finds a way to crack me up. He has quite the fan club of incredible people who love him as much he loves them and is always eager to make new friends.

On Wednesday, December 14th he was rushed to the ER due to a bladder blockage. At the time, I had no idea he was in so much pain but just felt something was off. Little did I know, this is VERY common in male cats due to their narrow urethras (okay, Hank Hill) and something I hope raises awareness for other cat owners. This can be a life-threatening diagnosis and I want to do all I can to ensure everyone knows exactly what to look for to keep our furry friends safe.

The entire team at Veterinary Emergency Group was incredibly helpful and made a very scary situation a lot less scary. They kept him for monitoring for a couple of nights and I was a wreck, I was confident he was in safe hands. They even threw on some CatTV™️ for him so he could watch some birds

As you can see, all the expert care Zig was given quickly began to add up. Between his trip to the ER and new special diet, I'm really struggling financially. It isn't in my nature to admit when I need help, let alone ask for it. While I'm not proud of this as my livelihood involves being quick to offer help to those in need, I want to encourage others to feel comfortable doing so. Soooo NO hypocrites here.
