Donald Rogers

As many of you may have already heard Donald “Duck” Rogers passed away last night after over 20 years of fighting. If you ever wanted to know what a gracious fighter looked like, just look at him and his wife Nicole. Donald became paralyzed after a tragic car accident that took the life of his best friend Rowdy over 20 years ago. The complications of that wreck were something he would never fully recover from because of the paralysis. He lost organ function, a leg and dealt with wounds not healing and hemoglobin issues so much so that he spent just as much time (or more) in the hospital as he did out. This did not mean that Donald did not love and enjoy his life fully though. He loved God and he lived in a way in which he honored that love on a daily basis. Many would have crumbled after dealing with just a minute portion of Donald’s health issues, but Donald managed to battle though every time with a smile on his face and graciousness in his heart. It is still somewhat of a shock to us that he passed because if there was one thing about Donald, it was the fight in him was always stronger than whatever was trying to take him down. Unfortunately for us, (because his loss is truly the world’s loss) Donald’s body had nothing left to give last night.
Because of Donald’s poor health, getting insurance or even saving for the time when we would have to say our last goodbyes was pretty much an impossible feat. Nicole is just as strong of a fighter as Donald was, she had to be. We know she won’t reach out, but we also know she is in no position to pay for Donald’s funeral expenses. He never asked for much, but he did ask her that after he dies that she give an opportunity for his friends and family to come and say farewell to him. He also knows that the funeral is an important part of the closure process for those of us left here on earth. Any help you can offer will go towards paying for this expense and is appreciated more than you can imagine. If all of us pitched in a few dollars we can reach our goal quickly and Nicole will have one less thing to stress over. Lord knows she has had nothing but stress for awhile now. We love you Duck! Till we meet again!
