We appreciate all of the support as Alex navigates through these unforeseen medical challenges. Alex remains in a medically induced coma with an estimated time of 2-4 weeks (full story below). Any donation - big or small - is appreciated and will go toward Alex's medical expenses and recovery. If you are unable to donate financially, a simple prayer, positive vibes, and/or sharing of this fundraiser is just as appreciated.

Thank you on behalf of Alex's immediate family.

Full Story:
Last week, Alex had been experiencing flu-like symptoms for several days. She could not hold down any food or liquids, noticed blood in her mucus, pain in her chest/lungs, and felt unwell in a way that she hadn’t ever felt before. This led to her and Mom (Barbara) heading to the ER, where she received fluids and was sent home.

The next day, Alex still wasn't feeling normal and trusted her gut that there was something wrong. She went back to get checked again, this time going to urgent care where an infection was found on her heart and kidney. This along with low oxygen levels led to an immediate rush via ambulance to the ICU.

After extensive review, the doctors and nurses concluded that Alex had contracted a rare Group B Strep pneumonia, an infection that her body was susceptible to due to having the flu. The issues this caused were bacteria in her blood, pneumonia with respiratory failure, and kidney injury. The infection developed into sepsis, in which Alex was placed into a medically induced coma and has every machine you can think of keeping her alive and helping her fight through this.

As of Friday, Doctors gave Alex a 60% chance to overcome this, but we are staying optimistic that she will start showing improvements soon. If you know Alex, you know that she is a FIGHTER. The journey ahead toward recovery will be a mountain to climb, but with your support and prayer, it will happen.

The expected induced coma time is estimated 2 weeks to 1 month as that was the norm for the last 3 recent cases they have seen with this rare diagnosis.

With all the unknowns, your support whether it's monetarily, prayer, and/or positive vibes being sent her way is greatly appreciated. Alex has a long journey ahead of her and anything helps. A simple message, prayer, or sharing of her story will go a long way.

We will provide updates as they come. Thank you from Alex's immediate family.
