Save a Horse from slaughter

Each week, hundreds of  horses, ponies, mules, and donkeys are sent to Canada, or Mexico to be slaughtered. In our area, many of these animals are dropped off at auctions in Pa and/or N.J, by their previous owner, or family members. Sometimes the previous owners are no longer able to care for the animal due to sickness, advanced age, or financial hardship, but other times they dump these animals at the auctions because they are irresponsible, cruel, and/or too cheap to humanely euthanize, and properly dispose of the animal. Whatever the reason may be, it's not the animals fault. If they are not sold, sometimes they are shipped around to various auctions, but if they are purchased by a Kill Buyer, they are usually shipped to Canada to be slaughtered. These animals are being slaughtered for human consumption in large quantities for the Canadians, Europeans, and Japanese customers. I think it's important to remember these animals were not raised for meat like cattle, these animals were once owned by families, college students, children, race horse owners, farmers, ranches, hack lines, carriage lines, and show barns. These animals are being subjected to being shipped from auction to auction, in unfamilar surroundings, and often times suffering serious injuries. They are scared to death, and for good reason. The animals being auctioned off can be young,  old, mares, geldings,  or stallions. Some are pregnant, others are sick or lame, along with the abused and neglected animals hidden in the mix. If they are not purchased by private buyers at  the " KILL AUCTIONS " they are all crammed into one big tractor trailer, and shipped to Canada to be slaughtered. Sadly, many animals will be severely injured, or trampled to death before they even arrive at their final destination. If they survive the trip, Canadian law now requires they wait in over crowded "feed lots" for six months before  being slaughtered.....and I emphasize the word  slaughter.  The goal is to raise a minimum of $ 3,000 to  bail  two to three animals from an auction IF a rescue group, or verified private farm agrees to foster, or adopt the animal. On average, each animal i.e. horse, pony, mule, donkey, or mini ) can cost  between $600 to $ 1,200 with fees and taxes,  We could save at least 2-3 horses, or  possibly several ponies, donkey's or mules if we raise the funds before tonights auction, which starts at 7 pm. If we don't have enough money raised by tonight, we can wait until Saturday to see what animals were not purchased IF the Kill buyers don't get them first. The auction facilities also charge more money if an animal is purchased after the auction date before they ship to another auction ,or to Canada.  So, if you want to help, please make a donation, and if we secure a foster home, or forever adoptive home before or during the sale, we can bail as many animals as we can afford with the donations we receive. If we have any funds left over, and the amount isn't enough to save an animal, we can offer to half bail an animal if a verified private facility, reputable farm, or individual comes up with the balance. We can also make a donation to a rescue group i.e. S.O.S.  (Save Our Standardbreds), and put any remaining  money towards saving an animal next week, or at another kill auction in Pa this week  Thanks for your consideration, and I hope with everybody's help we can rescue two or more animals this week.
