On Monday, July 14, 2025, severe flooding forced Laurie, her adult son, and their two beloved dogs to be rescued by boat as the rising waters surged into their home. While we're so grateful they made it out safely, their home is uninhabitable. To make matters worse, just one week before the flood, a tornado tore through her neighborhood, wrecking havoc on her yard and property.

This isn’t the first time Laurie has faced this kind of heartbreak. Over the years, her home has flooded multiple times due to increasingly severe storms. She's been living in a constant state of uncertainty, trying to hold things together while waiting for FEMA’s buyout program to come through — a process that has dragged on far too long.

She’s held on through each disaster with strength and hope, but this time, the damage is just too much to face alone. Insurance doesn’t begin to cover the losses, and the costs of temporary housing, food, clothes, and basic necessities are already adding up making it nearly impossible to move forward without help.

Laurie is a kind, hardworking, and compassionate person — the kind of neighbor and friend who always shows up for others. Now, she and her family need our support.
