For those who follow our stories, you may have noticed that we seem to have taken on the huge task of a common chicken dumping site near Preston, Lancashire

We got asked to help with a huge rescue last November of 13 chickens which had been dumped over numerous occasions. Preston is over 3 hours each way for us and not something we had planned to be attending but we couldn’t say no

We managed to catch them but they were in terrible condition and many had fighting injuries due to different ‘dumpers’ all coming to one place ‍♀️

It has been reported to the council and a request for cameras and signs has been denied but my thinking is, even if they did, they would just choose a less populated place which we don’t know about and they will just die anyway ‍♀️

This is clearly a no win situation and we have debated about this a lot, is this even something we can manage from so far away?

How can we say no when that call and photo comes through showing these little faces looking at the camera, wondering where on earth they are? Some of them recently are so young they are still cheeping like babies

we really are between a rock & a hard place with this

There is a dump site in Snettisham which has got completely out of hand with over 100 birds and we strongly believe this will eventually happen here if we don’t keep on top of it as sometimes hens are dumped here too

We went back a few months ago and caught 9, one of which we missed when collecting the 13 in November although I didn’t know this at the time.

We have since made 3 more trips to collect another 7

If anyone has any ideas on how to move forward with this in a more sustainable sensible way, please do let me know but for now I need to get something in place to ensure FPC can afford these trips on top of our already tight shoe string.

I can’t even think about capacity right now, we have one enclosure due to be built when time allows so whilst we have room we will keep fighting

We have created a Pennies4Preston campaign to ensure that we have enough to keep travelling over to this site and saving these boys until we can figure something out if anything.

We are asking our followers for donations and standing orders specifically for this purpose in the hope it will give us a regular budget for these trips.

A monthly donation will allow us to stop worrying how we will get over there the next time and trying to save in the know, we are going to need it in the coming weeks.

You know I’m always honest on my page and quite frankly I’m sick to death of worrying about where the next tank of fuel is coming from, especially these huge trips. The anxiety is too much so I need to find a solution if we are to continue. It’s a huge ask as so many of you support us so much, but I know you love these little lives as much as we do so wanted to reach out

I’ve set up an account specifically for Pennies4Preston so if you’d like to help with this, please see details below. Please reference P4P on all donations so we make sure its used for these boys

Please no sharing to chicken groups or local Preston pages as we feel if the people dumping these boys know we are trying to save them, they will only do it more

Thanks again for your continued support. Let’s get these boys safe
