Zeus Gustin's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

On Saturday morning, Heather and Kevin's puppy, Zeus (8 months old German Shephard), was hit by a vehicle on County Road E, directly in front of their home. Heather and Reese rushed him to the animal hospital in Appleton. In the early assessments, Zeus was diagnosed with a broken jaw, a broken front leg, a broken elbow and several missing teeth. The surgeon advised Zeus would require, at minimum, two surgeries; one to attempt to repair his front leg and elbow and the second, to fix his jaw. The surgeon stated they could not be sure of their ability to repair Zeus's elbow until they were able to see how much damage was done on the inside. They were advised, Zeus may require amputation.

As we all know, medical bills can be outrageous and thus, is the case for poor Zeus. On Sunday, the animal hospital reported a rough estimation of approximately $25,000 or more depending on the surgery. This does not include the $4,000, Heather and Kevin have already spent while Zeus has been at the facility. Zeus may require aftercare and therapy to help with the transition.

On Sunday evening, Zeus went in for his first surgery. This surgery was an attempt to repair Zeus's front elbow and leg. Heather and Kevin were notified the surgeon was unable to fix Zeus's elbow and they had to amputate his front leg. Despite the misfortune of losing a leg, the surgeon stated they felt confident Zeus would recover nicely. Zeus would be scheduled for his next surgery on Monday.

This morning, Heather and Kevin were able to visit Zeus. Despite being on some serious pain medication, Zeus was standing up, wagging his tail and happy to see his mom and dad. It was a short visit, approximately 20 mins. The staff reported Zeus would be taken into surgery this afternoon.

At this time, Zeus remains in surgery.

Heather and Kevin have been through a terrible time during this past year. They had to say goodbye to Max (14 yrs old), due to ongoing health concerns and quality of life. Unexpectedly, a few short weeks later, they were advised they would also have to say goodbye to their sweet girl, Ginger. The family has been through tough times until Zeus came along and brightened up their world. Given Zeus is only 8 months old, Heather and Kevin intend to do whatever is possible to keep Zeus with them. He will be the cutest 3~legged dog that has ever existed.

We would greatly appreciate any assistance you may provide. If unable, could you please say a prayer for Zeusy. Please pray today's surgery goes well and Zeus can start his recovery journey.

Thank you,
Gavin and Jen on behalf of the Gustin Family
