On Sunday, we woke up to find our little kitty Zuko had somehow ingested Ibuprofen. He knocked the bottle down and the “child proof” lid popped off and some fell out. The bottle was found under the bed and Zuko was not himself. We rushed him to the animal hospital for immediate care. We later learned that he sat there for 5 hours before they treated him due to their protocol of not starting treatment before getting paid. In those 5 hours, the poison from the ibuprofen took over his body and did irreversible damage. While in their care, they did have him on IV and gave him multiple injectables to clean out his system. Unfortunately after 2 days of fighting, his little body gave out. Tuesday morning around 3 am, he started having seizures and slipped into a coma. We went to see him around 8 am and by 10 am, he stopped fighting. We are absolutely devastated at losing him.
Our little kitty had just turned 1 year old in June. He was a tiny little guy weighing only 8 pounds but boy did he have big personality! He loved to explore, watch outside and play with his big sister Korra. He was the most playful kitty I’ve ever met. He was also a yapper and told us all about his adventures. He should still be here. Our hearts are beyond destroyed.
Unfortunately we now have a care credit bill for over $4000 for the delayed care that was given him (which we are beyond pissed that they didn’t start right away). A lot of people have reached out wanting to help us so we created a go fund me.
We appreciate all the support that everyone has given us financially and emotionally.
