Fighting Follicular Lymphoma

To my network: I need your help.
The short: I will be running the Austin Marathon on February 16th to raise awareness for follicular lymphoma to shed light on the fight my mom is putting up against this disease. I am raising money for the Follicular Lymphoma Foundation (FLF). The FLF focuses solely on helping people with follicular lymphoma to live well, get well, and find cures.
The longer: My mom is a badass. Her love and kindness are unrivaled and she has brought a heck of a lot of light to the people around her, specifically myself. Unfortunately, she began battling follicular lymphoma towards the latter end of this past year. This disease is incurable and, for most people, it is chronic — marked by multiple periods of relapse and remissions. These, along with a host of life-changing physical and emotional challenges, are all part of living with follicular lymphoma and other incurable diseases. However, my mom is a fighter. After a successful 4-month treatment, she is now in remission.
This past year, running has become an extremely transformative, meditative passion of mine. It allows me time to reflect not just on my day’s activities, but on the more important things in life - particularly family and everything that I’m grateful for.
I have been able to feed off of my mom’s strength with my running, and I am going to channel her determination during this race.
I am asking you to please donate if you can. If we collectively reach our goal of $2,500, I will gladly run with an official cutting-edge mullet.
