<div>Our daughter got seriously ill on a cruise to Mexico, which resulted in very hefty medical bills. After being sick in her cabin, the medical clinic came to take her to be treated. After hours of treating her, they decided to call ahead to the port to have an ambulance waiting to take her to the local hospital. She was put in ICU with a diagnosis of C-diff and septic shock. This affected her organs, with her kidneys shutting down. The hospital treated her with dialysis and eventually blood transfusions. She developed pneumonia, but the breathing machine wasn’t helping her enough, so she was intubated and put into an induced coma, resulting in her needing a feeding tube. Her dialysis was continued, and after 9 days, she was stable enough to be Medevac to her hometown.

<div>She was put into ICU and continued dialysis. She was slowly brought out of her coma, with her feeding tube removed after a few days. The hospital gave her PT, dialysis, and iron infusions, and after 9 days, she was released. She didn’t improve after a few days, so she was readmitted and then sent to rehab for a week to regain her strength. She is home now, continuing PT and dialysis 3 times a week. She needs to hire a handicapped van for transportation back and forth, which is $60 a trip.

<div>Needless to say, she has depleted her checking and savings accounts and maxed out her credit cards. The Mexican hospital asked for $7,000 each day for a deposit. Even with her medical insurance, the trip insurance, and family sending money, the bills keep coming to over $100,000. <strong>She is very lucky and thankful to survive, but she needs help with her bills.</strong>
