Mike Lawless Bursary Fund

Donation protected
We ask for your support in our efforts this year to raise funds for the first annual Mike Lawless Bursary that will be given to a deserving grade 12 graduate of Highland Secondary School in Comox, BC in the spring of 2016.

Mike Lawless was a fellow 1989 Highland Secondary School  graduate who passed away from lung cancer January 11, 2015.  He was a well-liked and kind individual who excelled at academics and school sports and  went on to Simon Fraser University to complete a degree in Criminology.  He then joined the Saanich, BC Police force in 1995.  Starting in 2004, Mike rode in the Tour de Rock on Vancouver Island and subsequently became an integral part of the support crew each year until his diagnosis of lung cancer in 2013.  Mike was an ambassador of the Tour de Rock, who would encourage the riders and go into the schools and energize the students prior to the cyclists arriving.  Mike was an admirable, empathetic and caring human being.  He was also a supportive husband and a father to two beautiful boys.  The 1989 graduating class is proud of Mike and all of his contributions he made to society and would like to memorialize him while helping future, deserving high school students with their educational expenses.

On July 24, 2015, the 1989 graduating class will be having a reunion in Mike's memory and  will present the funds raised on this site to contribute towards the Mike Lawless Bursary fund.   A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.  On behalf of the members of the Mike Lawless Bursary Fund Committee, we thank you in advance for your support!
