A few short months ago we got the news that nobody wants...........you have cancer. You always hear the word cancer but not all are the same and everyone responds differently to the treatments, you never see the real side of cancer until it hits home, and this one hits hard. The Matriarch of our wonderful family, the one that made holidays, birthdays and regular Sunday dinners so special, the glue that’s held it all together for her family and loved ones.
During a routine colonoscopy the doctor noticed a one inch mass inside her colon as well as several polyps, upon seeing the doctor is when the news was broke, you have Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Her doctor decided that her best form of treatment would be a grueling 6 weeks of radiation Monday through Friday, and 2 weeks simultaneously of chemotherapy. So many questions, so many thoughts, swirling around all our minds, dark thoughts, nobody ever expects to hear those words! Just the same we knew in that moment we will FIGHT this, and help her in every way we could. Why? Because she did the very same thing in raising her children. We have been there with her through this wretched journey, wreaking havoc on her body, she deserves so much more from life! If there was a way to guarantee she never has to experience this I know for a fact that we would all take her place to save her from it.
Our mother has worked herself to the bone, day in and day out, to make sure her kids were LOVED and taken care of, working for the Pinellas county schools for over 20 years! She has gone above and beyond in her career making sure all her “kids” in the cafeteria felt loved and welcomed, she always took care of them like her own.
This is the most wonderful woman in the world! She is the brightest star in the sky on our darkest days, we have all come so FAR in our lives because this great woman brought us kids up the best way possible. She consistently put our needs before her own, even still with what she is going through! WE all are going through this with her! TOGETHER.
Every day day we are in awe of what she has been dealt and keeps rising, like the sun, bringing the dawn from darkness to light our way and help guide us through our own speed bumps along the way.
