Sinclair Firkins

My name is Heather Terrell and I am Sinclair's aunt. My sister and brother-in-law are not ones to ask for help, so I am asking for them. As some of you know, my niece Sinclair is an 11 old year twin, that was born at 29 weeks. Being a twin born so early can create problems in itself, but the girls had twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Sinclair was the donor twin, which has caused extensive health issues for her since birth. In her 11 years she has seen cardiologists, nephrologists, oncologists, hematologists, endocrinologists, and pulmonologists. Her medical diagnoses throughout her life are countless and, at times, has caused her to miss extensive amounts of school. Sinclair has been seen by doctors in DesMoines and Iowa City, and was recently referred to the Mayo Clinic in hopes of getting her complex medical issues figured out. They are currently fighting with her insurance company to get the visits covered, as it was denied due to the wording in the referral from Iowa city. My sister found out today that Sinclair will need to make several more trips to Mayo before the end of the year as the doctor she saw today that there is a lot to figure out and she is a complex case. Aside from medical bills they will incur, they will also have the expense of hotels, gas, food, etc. as well as Hollie having to take time off from both of her jobs. Thank you for your support!
