Zauria’s Fight Against Rare Cancer (RMS)

To everyone who has experienced loss due to cancer. To everyone who knows the uncertainty of battling rare cancer. To anyone with children, I am asking for your help.

A few weeks ago, our Zauria was rushed to the hospital for swelling on the right side of her face. The pain was severe and after the first visit, she was sent home with anti-inflammatory meds. She was first diagnosed with a sinus infection. After the medicines failed to completely reduce the swelling, she was rushed again to another hospital for further examinations and treatment. After a painful surgery and further testing, the worst news was revealed to us.

Our beautiful girl was diagnosed with a rare form of SARCOMA known as Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). It’s a type of cancer that forms in the body’s connective tissues that support or connect other tissues or organs in the body. This cancer is so rare that there were only 400 reported cases of it in the U.S last year. This is a very aggressive and highly malignant form of cancer, and because it is located in the connective tissues, it progresses very quickly.

As a 23 year old, newly engaged college Senior, Zauria has her entire life ahead of her.


Zauria’s parents, Todd Smith and Renee Smith are asking for any monetary donations that you can give to help fund her treatment. Her father is a war veteran, and her mother is a school teacher. They are parents to 3 beautiful girls, Zauria, Trudie, and Angel. They are doing their best to fund her medical expenses, but Zauria needs advanced treatment in order to have a fighting chance.
