Make Buddhism Great Again

Why has Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu journeyed from the West?

Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu is a Mahathera (Great Elder) of the Theravada Sangha who has travelled out of the West and across the Pacific Ocean from Burma. He needs YOUR help to bring the Dhamma here to the Occident.

Western Buddhism is often more leftist politics and progressivism than Buddhism.

Pannobhasa Mahathera encourages a more fundamentalist approach to Buddhism for (but by no means limited to) Westerners, renouncing political correctness hysteria, and attempting to reconcile ancient, timeless values with the technotopian postmodern Western Civilisation in which we live.

Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu is pursuing the path of morality, meditation, and non-attachment, and as a Theravadin Bhikkhu is to a great extent dependent upon the help of others in order to survive.

While this is typically not a difficulty for monks in countries with a long tradition of Buddhism, here in the Barbaric Lands east of Burma it is a different story!

Otto Excelsior is a member of the Navakavada Buddhist lay community from New York, and is the bass guitar player for the conceptual metal comedy rock band Hungry Jack, which performs regularly in East Central New York and Western New England.

He is a friend of Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu, whom he regards as a semi-enlightened teacher of the Dhamma whose views illuminate and inform Navakavada.

Otto knew that, as a Theravadin Renunciate, Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu would be facing a particularly difficult time living here in a country that  did not have a history of Buddhism and thus did not appreciate his needs. He decided to help his friend by setting up this Gofundme campaign.

All funds collected will be sent or given directly to Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu’s designated representatives and/or used to defray his expenses and/or will be used to help directly provide food, books and other materials needed by Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu to help him continue his work of writing, teaching, and providing a much needed social commentary from a traditional Buddhist standpoint.

We also hope to help enable him to publish his works and to travel when necessary as well as to deal with any emergencies that may arise.

We of the Navakavada/Divine Wind school of Based Buddhism are honoured and blessed by Paññobhāsa Bhikkhu’s presence amongst us all as a teacher and exemplar of the based, red-pilled Buddhism which we espouse.

Please contribute to the fund we Navakavadins have started in support of our Theravadin brother.
