On January 24th, Zander Levi made his grand entrance into the world. Within his first hours of life he was having episodes of turning blue. These ended up being seizures. After a week in the NICU he was diagnosed with Linear Nevus Sebaceous Syndrome. He has been on Keppra for seizures since he was 24 hrs old. His medical story has been full of twists and turns, ups and downs throughout his entire life. The first few months of Zander’s life were spent trying to manage his seizures. In his 3rd month he began having infantile spasms. They tried 3 different medicines with no success in trying to stop these spasms. This is when his family began talking to a team of Doctors in Cleveland. After a trip out to get some extra testing done, they ruled him a candidate for a TPO reduction (brain surgery, removing his right temporal, occipital and parietal lobes). August 10th was Zander's surgery and it appears to have been a success at stopping his infantile spasms and seizures!! As of August 14th he has been seizure free!!!! He still has a long road ahead, of healing and learning how to function without a third of his brain. Zander is participating in multiple types of therapies. The neuro-movement therapy (Anat Baniel Method) is the most hopeful for giving him the best chance at a normal life. This will bring them
out to California for a week to get started. They will then continue with a therapist certified in this method back at home. Over the next 6 months this therapy will cost them $10,000 as it is not covered by insurance. The load this family has been carrying for 7 months is so much. The endless Dr. appointments, his continual medicine schedule, the frequent emergency room visits. Yet in it all, they remain steadfast in their love for the Lord and his promise to hold them in His hand. They have been a true testament to those surrounding them. They hold their heads high and don’t complain. They find the good in every situation. Let’s help lift this financial load they are taking on so they can focus on Zander’s recovery and their older girl’s childhood! They greatly appreciate any way that you can support them.
