Zanairah goes to Stanford
Aloha,
Your generous donation will help me with Zanairah’s upcoming hospitalization at Stanford Children’s Hospital. My almost three year old daughter, Zanairah, was born with Pulmonary Atresia (PA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Major Aortopulmonary Collateral Arteries (MAPCAs.) She has a hole in her heart and little blood flow to her lungs. This type of congenital heart defect is rare and found in less than 5% of children. Zanairah has endured four successful open heart surgeries to date.
Recently, she suddenly stopped breathing for several minutes, went limp in my arms and turned blue. She was admitted to Kapiolani hospital after being "revived" by skillfull EMT in Hana, Maui. Hana's doctor sent her via air ambulance to Maui Memorial and within hours she was admitted to Kapiolani Medical Center on Oahu with respiratory and cardiac failure and spent 12 days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Zanairah and I are on Oahu until her Stanford appointment on December 14th, 2017. While at
Stanford she will undergo scans and annual cardiac cath procedures which will determine if a 5th open heart surgery is necessary to fix her abnormal heart.
We are headed down a foggy path again and want to share that today Zanairah is vibrant, spunky and full of life! She brings me so much joy and worry. I humbly ask for prayers of healing and strength and donations to support us through one more mainland hospital journey.
Mahalo and happy holidays,
Zanairah's Mommy.
