Zamokuhle Care Centre - Pam Tolmay Memorial Fund

For 17 years The Zamokuhle Care Centre was Pam's mission, vision and joy come to fruition.

During one of her many visits to South Africa, Pam came across a day care centre for Aids orphans. Run by a team of dedicated and determined women, who were completely unsupported and without resources. They were battling against poverty and a broken economical system. The centre was lacking in sanitary facilities, safe and enjoyable play equipment, and even adequate shelter from the elements. Pam lamented that "someone needed to do something about this" and then (in her words) it was as if a voice said "you are the one who has seen it." She brought the plight to her congregations at Melville and Vanneck United Churches and from there the journey to establish the Zamokuhle Care Centre Began.

After nearly two decades of fund raising, campaigning, manual labor, and late night's making power point presentations, her vision became a reality and finished to specific and immaculate specifications. Which Pam and the team were more than up to the task for.

Today, the daycare still requires on-going repair and maintainence, support for the volunteer workers while awaiting government charitable status in South Africa, and most importantly nutritional meals and supplies for the children's enrichment.
