Zambia expedition to build a Scout Activity centre
Donation protected
The Scout association is vital in order to help young people across the world to build ‘skills for life’ so the Cleveland Scouts have elected to go on a Zambia expedition to build a Scout activity centre to help those less fortunate than ourselves have the opportunity that scouting presents.
We will spend three weeks on a building site starting for scratch, erecting buildings and building adventurous activities.
Furthermore, we will be working with the a local scouting community, allowing us to experience how different countries approach scouting; an experience that could help us better ourselves and skills.
This project is important because we will be living in the community which we are building in. Therefore, food will be bought from market stalls and local labourers will be hired and payed a generous but sustainable wage above the average for their trades. This spreads the good will of scouting whilst providing a living to the villages of the local area.
However, this expedition comes with a considerable cost to the scouts going which is why fundraising is vital to help create this once in a lifetime experience. As a fundraiser, I have signed up to do the English Channel Virtual Challenge where I have to swim the length of the Channel (21 miles) in 14 weeks.
Any donations will be a massive help to ensure that scouting can spread across the globe to give other’s opportunities that we have been so lucky to have.
Thank you
