One of the core values of TWENTYTWO & 1001KITCHEN is creating and maintaining a feeling of unity and support, we have always been vocal about the political and social issues that have been happening within our community of the young diaspora.
Like many of you, we heard the story of Ahmad Manasra.
A young boy who was arrested and interrogated under horrific circumstances at the age of 13
(2015), before being imprisoned by Israel, and is currently suffering from serious mental health problems. Ahmad has been subjected to continuous punishment and abuse, multiple physical, psychological and social torture, including deprivation from family communication. #FREEAHMADMANASRA
Like Ahmed, many Palestinian children are experiencing the same horrific and unjust treatment. They continue to endure violations when held in Israeli military detention and are exposed to many cycles of violent conflict over the past decade. Many Palestinian children face daily obstacles that limit their life. Children should be protected, not targeted, exposed to violence, or encouraged to participate in violence.
That is why we have chosen that ALL of the proceeds for our upcoming event will be donated to The Defense for Children International - Palestine. Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCIP) is an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
