Hello everyone,
I am a first generation college student who attends Mount Holyoke College - one of the top academic schools in America. During my journey at Mount Holyoke, I have decided to participate in the domestic exchange program between Mount Holyoke College and Spelman College. Therefore, this Fall I will be attending Spelman for the semester. As a domestic exchange student, I do not qualify for work study; therefore, finances are difficult for me to maintain as I am an independent college student. Therefore, I am forced to cover the cost of health insurance $1500 and book finances: $600. This year I am challenged with task of finding $2000 to continue my dream of graduating college with a Bachelors in Mathematics. In addition, I have to purchase the required books and pay living expenses while I am on campus. Currently, I have 3.2 gpa that I am committed to increasing with the support of everyone help me with my education. If you know me personally and my work ethic, you all know that you will not be let down.
Therefore, I ask who can help and whoever is willing to help, please do so. It will be greatly appreciated and nothing will be taken for granted. My target is $2,000 to cover the cost of mandatory health insurance, books, and modest living expenses I need at college (including the 248 mile Greyhound ticket to get from Philadelphia to Mt. Holyoke). I need all the help I can receive because dropping out of college is not an option for me as I come from a family where many are struggling to make ends meet, I want to be different and make something of myself. My mother is a reoccurring drug abuser who is not able to help financially. My father is not in my life. And my guardian (my Aunt) can only help so much as she has children of her own. Therefore, I am asking for you all to help a young, determined, tenacious, resilient, humbled black woman reach her goals so that she can do great within this world. You will not be let down. Anything is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Zahkeyah Allen
