Zack's medical equipment and trips

Donation protected
Zackariah is a twin, born at 26 weeks and 1 day gestation. Zack spent 192 days in the NICU at UAB and Childrens Hospital before finally coming home. He has endured 7 surgeries so far and has a list of medical diagnosis that include: Cerebral Palsy, Globally Delayed, g-tube dependent, BPD (bronchiopulmonary dysplasia), asthma, hypothyroidism, nystagmus, plagioencephaly (flat head syndrome), reflux, immunocompromised, osteopenia, tonic seizures, he has air filled ventricles from hydrocephalus, a porencephalic cyst on his cerebellum, he has significant dead brain tissue from the IVH grade 3 he had when in the hospital he is non verbal, does not sit, crawl, stand or walk.

I have tried to do everything possible to help my little boy be like his twin brother and participate. I have bought so many pieces of medical equipment that have been recommended by his doctors, therapists and specialists. The only thing stopping me from getting the next 2 pieces of equipment is cost. His insurance does not cover a stander or an Upsee. Both of these items will help strengthen his core and legs and help him to learn to walk and play with his twin brother, Dale. I know the odds of him ever walking unassisted are slim. But doesn't he deserve the opportunity to walk? To stand up and hug his brother and other family members and friends? To stand at the kitchen counter with me and Dale and make cookies?

Like every parent, I want what is best for my child and want him to have every opportunity to be successful. But, you put a label of MEDICAL on something and the price goes up exponentially. Having a medically complex child is a difficult journey but one full of blessings. God gave me the greatest gift when he blessed me with not 1 but 2 living miracles.

Anything raised will first and foremost go to his equipment and medical trips. We have 1 trip to Birmingham in June that will be overnight, 1 to Shriners in SC that will be 1-2 nights, and another in Birmingham in July that will be 2 nights. Also Shriners again in November.
