Zachary Leguire and Family

This is Zachary Leguire. He is a normal fun loving 9 year old boy from White Cloud Michigan. He is such a great kid. Monday evening, Zachary and his 13 year old brother Hunter were out putting some trash in a burn barrel and burning it when there was an accidental explosion. Hunter was furthest from the burning trash barrel. He suffered burns, however, was able to be treated at the hospital and was released THANK GOD!!! Zachary was the nearest to the barrel and suffered severe burns. He was assessed at the scene and then flown by Aero Med to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids where he is currently in the PICU.

Zachary has 70% of his sweet little body covered in burns. He is on ventilators to help him breathe, various different machines to help regulate medication and is in a medically induced coma. The doctors say that his comfortable and is a fighter. The doctors also told them that if the family had any Holiday plans, they needed to cancel as Zachary would be there at the very least, into the New Year.

Zachary is one of 4 children. Kaylee 14, Hunter 13 who also suffered burns, Emily 11 and Deziree 6. His mother Heidi and father Nevin have been there by his side. Nevin is an over the road truck driver and was down south when he got the news. His employer was nice enough and able to fly him home as soon as they could so he could be by his sweet baby boys side. Nevin, the childrens daddy is the bread winner working so very hard to provide for his family. While Zachary is in the hospital, mom and dad will remain with him by his side, which will leave them with no income.

Mom and Dad are temporarily staying on a floor of the childrens hospital in a room with a bed and a shower which is very nice, however, they were told it was only temporary. Not sure how long that is. They are trying to find other housing once their stay there is done. Working with insurance is a hassle as we all know and honestly they should not have to worry about nor cannot worry about any of that right now. They need to focus solely on that sweet baby boy Zachary.

Heidi and Nevins other children are being well taken care of by family and friends. Their home being so far away from the hospital (1-1.5 hours away) is too far reside at, travel back and forth to nor does the parents want to be that far away from him.

Zachary and his family had just started to attend church again recently. In fact, Heidi told me Zachary was supposed to do his Dedication at church this Saturday November 18th, 2017 and could not wait to do so, he was so excited. The family is/was so proud. Everybody has faith that he will be able to do it, just as soon as he well enough to come home.

This is where we all come in. Many people have offered to bring care packages, take turns helping with kids and various different things to help out. The support and the prayers have been so much appreciated, and are welcomed going forward. With Nevin out of work, they will be unable to pay the bills and rent. So with the parents permission, I am starting this to be able to take the worry off of their shoulders and focus solely on Zachary and his recovery.
