Hurricane Harvey Recovery

Donation protected
West Oaks Little League and Stampede Baseball share, and work together to maintain, a local youth baseball complex in George Bush Park.  Both organizations support the youth baseball community of Harris and Fort Bend Counties.  I am the Executive Director for Stampede Baseball and in charge of of the baseball facilities for the West Oaks Little League complex

This park, along with the families of both organizations, have been severely affected by the floods following Hurricane Harvey.  A number of families have had to evacuate their homes and in some cases, suffered total loss, including homes, vehicles, and all possessions.  As we start the recovery process, we know additional families will be added to the growing list of those who have suffered directly.

Last year, during the Tax Day flood, the park was completely submerged under water and stayed that way for nearly two months.  The damage at that time, was near catastrophic.  Recovery efforts have been ogoing, but Hurricane Harvey has dropped another record amount of water on the area, and all the work put into the fields, has been destroyed.  In order to not just repair the damage done from the hurricane, but more importantly, renovate the fields completely, to avoid this amount of damage in the future, is going to take a lot of work and support.  Without improvements to the park, these fields may be lost forever.

This fundraising campaign will be serving two purposes.  First and foremost, we would like to help the families in our organization, that have suffered loss from the flooding.  The initial money raised will go to help cover out of pocket expenses these families will incur, as they go through the process of getting back on their feet.

The remaining funds will be used to renovate the fields and cover the costs of all equipment and material associated with the renovations.

In addition to monetary contributions, we are also accepting gift cards and donation of specific items needed.  Any specific items donated will help lower the overall cost to both the families and park renovations.  Below are two lists.  The first is a list of items specific to the needs of the families.  The second is a list of the items specific to the renovation of the park.  All money donated will go toward the purchase of the items or services on the lists, unless donated directly.  If you are able to donate any items from either list, please reach out via the email link.

About the complex:
The fields, which opened in 1991 and are located inside George Bush Park, were originally built by Harris County as a home for West Oaks Little League.  The fields serve a large community in Harris and Fort Bend Counties.

About the Organizations:
West Oaks Little League (WOLL)
WOLL was founded in 1976 and has been providing Little League baseball to residents of Harris and Fort Bend Counties for over 40 years.

Stampede Baseball Academy (SBA)
SBA is a year round, professionally coached organization offering high level instruction for those players seriously pursuing the chance to play baseball at the high school and/or college level.

While there are a lot of great charities working to raise funds to help Southeast Texas recover, this campaign has a very specific purpose.  All donations made will be going 100% to the families and the community complex right here in our backyard.  Not only will your generous donations help in the recovery process, but you will know exactly WHO you helped and be able to see the results of your donations.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  Please help spread this campaign to as many people as possible.
