Scott fights Cancer

On July 27th, Scott, at the young age of 31 was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of leukemia called apl. He fought extremely hard in the confined leukemia floor at HSC for a month. After the hardest month of his life he was finally strong enough to come home. After being home for just a week he started to experience extreme headaches. This lead the doctors to perform multiple tests. The results showed that he had severe brain swelling that was progressing faster than the doctors had ever seen before. On Wednesday September 5th he was rushed into an emergency brain surgery. They found out he has a severe infection in his brain caused by listeria. This is causing his brain to become extremely swollen. After the surgery the doctors put him into a medically induced coma and have been doing everything they can to fight off this infection and reduce the swelling in his brain. However overnight on Saturday September 8th they could not control the amount of pressure his brain was under and he was again rushed in for a second brain surgery where they removed a portion of his skull in hopes of relieving some of the pressure. As of right now we have no idea when Scott will wake up or what his status will be when he does. He has fought so unbelievably hard. Once he wakes up he will have a very long and hard journey. The last thing we as a family want Scott to be worried about is paying his bills. We hope that he can find some sort of comfort in knowing that he does not need to stress about any finances.
