Benji's Back Surgery

In July, Benji hurt his back badly, lost complete motor-functioning in his hind legs and couldn't walk or control his bodily functions. We rushed him to the ER only to find that he'd need emergency surgery on his spine so he could walk again. We didn't think of the financial hit his bill would take on us, we just jumped head on and gave the surgeon the go-ahead to operate on him asap. Luckily for us, Benji's come out of the surgery ok and is recovering well. He's slowly getting back to himself. 



Benji's medical bills totaled $7500 (the cost of x-rays, the MRI, meds, surgery and 5 days stay at the hospital) and we were banking on our pet insurance to cover 90% of the cost. Unfortunately for us, our claim and appeal was rejected. And now we're left with a hefty bill and no way to cover it. 



I'd never ask for help for myself but since the day I adopted him, this dog's been my life and I'd do anything for him. He's been there for me through huge life changes including moving to NYC, losing my mom, getting married and I've never been without him. He's not a pet he's like a member of the family.
