<div>Jodi Simmons’ Journey to Recovery:

<div>Hello everyone. My name is Brandie Simmons, and I am the daughter of Jodi Simmons. On December 18th my mother suffered a subarachnoid aneurysm which ruptured while she was alone in her cabin. It’s believed that she left her cabin in search of help but with the damage to her brain at the time she got confused and turned left instead of right to go her neighbors. On the left side of her home is a deep ravine which she fell into.

<div>Her neighbor had tried to call her to check in on her after she had been complaining of the worst headache of her life the day before. When her neighbor couldn’t get a hold of her, she asked a friend of hers to go down to Jodi’s cabin to see if she was home. Upon arriving at the cabin, the friend discovered blood inside but no Jodi and immediately went out to search around the cabin for her. When he couldn’t find her anywhere near the cabin he decided to look further and went down into the ravine where he found Jodi lying in the snow under some fallen trees. She was barely conscious.

<div>The friend, who is an EMT had his emergency radio on him and was able to call for help describing everything he need to get her out.
</div>
<div>She was transported to the South Peninsula Hospital ER, and was stabilized for a life flight to Anchorage Regional hospital. When she arrived they performed emergency surgery in the ER to help stop the bleeding in her brain.
</div>
<div>She is now in the ICU for the next 2 weeks being monitored for vasospasms in the brain.
</div>
<div>While Jodi has been making great progress since arriving and the doctors are very hopeful for her, she has a long road of recovery ahead of her. She does not have insurance as she is self-employed. There will be a lot of rehabilitation for OT, PT and Speech needed in her future. Her family is all here by her side and taking shifts with her.
</div>
<div>We are setting up this Go Fund Me account to assist with medical bills, therapy and future travel expenses as therapy will likely have to be done in Anchorage if her family cannot get her moved back to Michigan.
</div>
<div>If you know Jodi, you know she is as honest as they come and seriously the hardest worker you’ll ever meet. She is indeed a Clydesdale. She’s always doing something for her community and always willing to help anyone in need. If you can assist her in what we are referring to as Jodi’s journey, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you cannot support financially, we ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Please know every dollar makes a difference, and is deeply, deeply appreciated. Her road to recovery will be long but we know she can and will get there.
