Ayuda para Jaime Moreno

Donation protected
There are many things Jaime Moreno would say if he could. He would say that he never thought that he would see the day when far-flung friends and even strangers would be asked upon to help support his beautiful wife of 14 years Christine, and their two wonderful children; 7 year old Kai and 2 year old Sienna. Being raised by his single mother Emma in a home full of love with his brothers, Julio, Paco and Rene, Jaime as well as his family have learned the value and importance of family unity in overcoming adversity.

Jaime is a 32 year old loving husband and father, a wonderful human being, and a noble soul. He is cherished by his family, friends, coworkers and his community. Jaime's personality draws people to him because of his humility and charisma.
Recently this amazing man has been missed, and we are hopefully awaiting the day to continue enjoying his presence.

The Tragic Event
On July 2nd, 2015, while driving home, Jaime lost control of his car which resulted in a tragic car accident. He suffered several major injuries, including; multiple broken bones throughout his body, a punctured lung, a contusion to his spinal cord and a severe brain injury.

Since the accident Jaime has shown that he is strong enough to withstand adverse conditions for the love of his family. We have been with him at all times doing whatever it takes to provide him the treatment he deserves.

Current Situation
Jaime's will to live has astonished everyone; including his doctors. He was in an unconscious coma for two months and is currently in a vegetative state, which has left him unable to move or talk.

We were advised to provide him with physical therapy to keep his body in shape, keep him comfortable, and turn him every 2 hours to avoid ulcers, as well as give him emotional and moral support during the process of waiting for him to regain consciousness.

In October Jaime was discharged from the hospital where he had been receiving treatment since the incident, Centro Medico of Puerto Rico; and he was subsequently transferred to a treatment center known as St. Jude Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in San Juan, P.R. He is undergoing physical therapy 4-8 hours daily to keep his body from becoming deformed. We continually talk, read, and sing to Jaime; stimulating all his senses and making sure he knows we are always with him.

Because of his current state, his healthcare insurance provider will not cover any rehabilitation costs until he is has exhibited improvement and the ability to rehabilitate; meaning he has to be able to demonstrate he can follow some simple commands.

Currently the cost of his in-patient therapeutic treatment is $200 daily; $6000 monthly, not including his other medical expenses such as medications, medical equipment, and utilities.

We had initially hoped that Jaime would be able to recover quickly from his brain injury and wanted to keep this a private family matter. However, we have come to understand that this will be a long and hard road ahead of us and we now realize that we will need help and external support to continue to provide Jaime the treatment he deserves. As a family, we are never going to give up on him and we will do everything that is possible to keep him healthy and help him respond to treatment.

The Road Ahead
Christine has faithfully remained by his side since the day of the accident; however she cannot currently generate enough income to keep the household running as it once did. We are looking into options outside of Puerto Rico where there are treatment centers that specialize in severe brain injuries. Medical costs are mounting and the family needs urgent economical support to provide Jaime the treatment he deserves. He requires extensive therapy, medical treatments and medicine in order to improve his possibility of a complete recovery. Of course, time is of the utmost importance and plays a huge role in his recovery. We are going to do everything we can to help him, but we can't do it without your help!
