Festival Fresco is a chamber music festival founded in June 2019 for Didsbury and the Manchester area. Its main aims are to offer a programme of enjoyable, high-quality concerts to local audiences, and to provide performance opportunities for Manchester-based professional musicians at the start of their careers. The inaugural festival took place at the Baptist Church in Altrincham between the 6th-8th of June 2019.
Alongside this, we want to create a local musical hub, even if only for a weekend, to allow disparate elements of the local community to encounter each other in a meaningful musical context. We strongly believe that music is a common language, which can bring communities together in pursuit of a shared passion.
Festival Fresco is founded by composer Natasha Sofla and violinist Vanessa White who are both young professional musicians at the start of their careers.
This year's festival was due to take place between the 26th-28th of June at St Ann's Church, Manchester and Emmanuel Church, Didsbury. However, due to the current pandemic we have had to postpone. Instead we're putting on an online festival between the 16th-17th of May with eight short performances given by a mixture of musicians that would have been performing in June.
We have set up this page for anyone that would like to offer any financial support for the running of Festival Fresco. During this difficult time for everyone, we would like to be able to give musicians some support from profits raised as well as something for the future running costs of the festival.
