Good Day My Friends!
My name's Trent.
I'm from Temple, Texas and I'm the SOLE Bernie National Delegate from Senate District 24
(800,000 People!)
I've been following Bernie Sanders since I first saw him on Face the Nation as Mayor of Burlington in 1989 and I LIKED HIM!
When I saw a post by Bill Maher on facebook on April 29th of last year saying that Bernie was going to Officially Declare his Candidacy for the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States, I literally came up out of my chair Screaming (my wife Joyce didn't even know who he was in that moment, boy did SHE learn!)
I jumped out on social media right then and there, signed up to volunteer for the Campaign on Day Two (ONLY because I didn't know about it on Day One!).
A couple days after that, I had my first convert, (Joyce)
Together, as I look back over events of the last year, we were Everywhere, doing Everything.
I Created the Central Texas Page on facebook (widely referred to as "The FLAGSHIP of Texas Pages").
Drove from Temple, to Dallas, to Houston, and back again to Temple, to ORGANIZE people on Social Media (because we KNEW the Corporate controlled Main Stream Media was going to slap a TOTAL BLACKOUT on us).
Hosted a National Organizing Kickoff Event at our Home here in Temple that we lovingly refer to as "ElvenDwell".
Merged with two other Bell County Kickoff Groups and formed "Bell County for Bernie UNITED!"
We became Volunteer Deputy Registrars and pooled our resources to rent booth space at the Central Texas State Fair at the Expo Center in Belton for our contribution to National Roll Out over Labor Day weekend. We registered about a hundred and twenty folks over the three day event, and turned Every Single Person who participated in our Interactive Challenge, "What's Important to You?" where we had organized memes into folders representing all of Bernie's Platform Positions that we would page through at the reading speed of the participant.
EASY PEASY!
The Man and Message sell themselves!
Our Phenomenal Success of the Event EMPOWERED and EMBOLDENED us to the point we Never looked back.
We learned phone banking and SOLD Statewide Days of ACTION fanatically on the Central Texas Page (only Texas page to do so).
We gathered yard signs over a two month period and I'm PROUD to say that as a result, we had Yard Signs at EVERY Polling Place in Bell County on Super Tuesday.
We then successfully OCCUPIED the Bell County Democratic Convention and as a result, walked away with 7 more State Convention Delegates for Bernie than the 27 we were owed mathematically on paper.
I declared my Candidacy the following Monday on the First Day of Application Acceptance...
...and went on to WIN my Election Race in a LANDSLIDE VICTORY.
I've been an Integral Part of GROWING this movement here in Central Texas from 3% to where we STAND today.
I NEVER wanted any kind of Reward, Power, or Notoriety for my involvement or tireless efforts in this Movement.
Accomplishment is, after all, its own reward.
