Hey everyone, you may or may not know that on June 29th our father John Piolatto had a very massive stroke affecting the left side of his brain. Subsequently, he required a lifesaving hemi craniectomy in which they removed part of the skull on the left side of his head to allow the brain to swell without causing any more damage. Just recently he has had his skull put back in and has been doing very well with the recovery. He has been working hard at his physical, occupational, and speech therapy every week, however he still does not speak and has little movement on his right side.
But he does understand and still shows his personality through the looks he's been shooting us. He still enjoys the company of his family and friends and we enjoy his personality that still shines through. The past 7 months have been intense and life changing for our father. His journey to this point has been a long road but we pray and hope that we can do everything we can to give him what he needs. The next step from here is going to be a lot of change for our father he will be moving into a professional nursing facility where he will have his own studio apartment with full nursing care available to him 24 hours. We have a lot of unknown ahead, with lots of changes. We believe with his loving group of friends and family that care so very much for him our NEW normal for him can be positive if we can get him a few things to help make life a little easier. Unfortunately insurance has been limited when it comes to covering things to help him gain some independence. So as his children we are raising money for our father to pay for a power wheel chair and other items that can make living a little more independently possible for him.
ANYTHING you are able to contribute will be so helpful to the family. Let's help him get the very best care and help him gain a little more independence that we know he desperately wants. We all would do anything to have our father back to that wonderful sarcastic fun-loving man we all know and love! Help us give him joy in keeping up with his 5 beautiful grand children as they play outside. All of your thoughts and prayers these past months have helped each and everyone of us. We all thank you.
