My name is Leslie Bruckman and I'm the owner of Nom Nom Sweeties, located in Owosso, Michigan where I make delicious cakes, macarons, and candy for my customers. Making cakes and baking is my passion, especially the creative aspect of cakes. I LOVE making hand sculpted sugar flowers and painting on cakes with edible paint the most.
For the past 8 years, I've operated out of my home, and that's worked really well for me because it allowed me to be home with my children while they were younger. And for the past few years, things have been amazing, and the amount of orders has continued to grow each year allowing me to keep doing what I love the most on a full-time basis.
In the past year or so, however, the order requests have grown to a number that is beyond my capability to create in the space I'm currently in, and I've been turning away a large number of cakes on almost a weekly basis. Also, part of me wants more... to also be creating dessert items like cookies, cupcakes, brownies, pastries, and macarons on a daily basis in addition to the cakes I create. To have some of my seasonal holiday offerings available on an everyday basis, also!
So, in November, when an amazing opportunity dropped in my lap, I began to explore how to best make it happen. The opportunity is a space located in the located in the heart of Downtown Owosso on Washington Street.
There has been so much going on! Building inspectors, contractors, bumps and total roadblocks, but I've finally made it through the majority of the obstacles and I'm finally at a point where I feel comfortable announcing it to everyone.
I'm happy to announce that I'm currently in the process of expanding my business and opening a bakery! I hope to open sometime in early summer! And what I'm asking for, is your support in helping this become a reality! It's the last obstacle in making this happen. Owosso currently isn't home to a business that offers all of these things in one space, and no one in town currently offers macarons, and I'd like to be the one!
