A senior working a dying trade (Clocksmith)

Donation protected

I work in a specialized field that frankly does not pay much if one sticks to ethical standards, which I do.  It's very time-consuming and my physical ability is starting to deteriorate to the point of not being capable of performing it anymore.

I work in the clock repair/restoration field and I'm now living on social security. The trouble is that my social security is under $1,000. per month and my monthly expenses are at least double that. What this all means is that I'm continuing in a field that I love but now it brings both physical pain and discomfort and it would be great not to have to do that anymore.

I'd like to spend most, if not all, of my remaining years tinkering when the joy motivates me and not the need to pay my bills.

When I started my business back in 1982, I thought that I had plenty of time to save for retirement but I was wrong.  In fact I was in credit card debt. I'm not crying in my beer, just stating facts the way I see them. For the record, I have not been in any type of debt since April 2012 and a greater Web presents stated to bring in more work in 2010.

Any and all donations will be greatly welcomed and appreciated.  Anything you can donate will give me much piece of mind and you'll have my eternal gratitude.

I'd like an opportunity of earning your money and I'm willing to try and answer any clock questions you may have. I'm an expert in the Atmos, 400-day and most electrics (but not battery driven) clocks. I can answer other clock questions but I expect larger donations for that information because it will require much more time to research and will not be from my areas of expertise, which is still fresh in my mind and only takes the time to type.  Please no valuation questions because it is subjective and you can do your own research on eBay.com and use their "advanced search" options and look at closed or completed auctions to give you an idea of value and more importantly what people have paid for similar clocks. I'm totally ignorant about watches of all types and clocks are my business, so no watch questions. To find me, just Google Mike's Clock Clinic and then E-mail me.

Lastly, I taught Atmos and 400-day clock repair for both the AWCI and the NAWCC, I mention this to show that I'm the expert I claim to be and not merely self-proclaimed. Thank you.
