Hello everyone, thank you for visiting this page!

Ecuador is a small South American country filled with breathtaking landscapes and a beautifully unique culture. It is also home to 16.8 million people, nearly 30% of whom are living on less than one dollar a day. This poverty affects the health and well-being of families, leading to malnutrition, contamination and disease. Lack of communities and resources only contribute to the spiraling poverty present throughout the country.

In 2016, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador, destroying fishing ports, tourist beaches and dozens of homes, schools and hospitals in the cities and towns. Reports following this disaster confirmed over 600 dead and 16,000 injured. After the earthquake, many groups worldwide came to Ecuador to mobilize relief efforts, and help Ecuador rebuild what was lost. Although much help has been given, the people of Ecuador, especially those in rural regions, desperately need our continued help.

In an effort to help these families, I will be travelling to Ecuador this coming May with an organization called Help, Learn and Discover (HLD). During this 18 day experience I will be exposed to the diversity of Ecuador, participating in medical rotations and building homes for families in the small town of Pujili. This year, we will be helping to build and expand Pujili yet again. We will be helping build 15 new homes in addition to a construction facility in the community! Each home will have two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, a living area, and running water/electricity. The cost to build each home is approximately $6500. These 20 new homes cannot be completed without financial support. Being more centrally located has allowed the adults of the community to be closer to work. Through being a part of the construction process over the years, many members of the community have become quite skilled at this trade. In an effort to make the community even more sustainable long-term, we are going to be creating jobs by making this new construction facility!

The trip itself I've paid for from my own pocket; the finances required for the community however, are on a spectrum of their own. With that said, fundraising is necessary to make this community a reality.

**100% of the money fundraised by me/donated by you goes DIRECTLY towards the building of these communities!**
NONE of it is going to me personally; airfare, accommodations, food, etc. I've already paid for myself! Every cent you give goes directly to the cause. The money will be used to purchase sustainable materials for the houses, tools to build them and any of the bare necessities required by the families receiving these homes.

And so, it is with deep humility that I ask you, my friends and family, to join me in building this community through your financial support. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and generosity! We hope we can make a difference this summer with your support.

Thanks,

Brett Naidoo
