Friends & Family,

To my amazement, I’m typing another letter to tell you all about what God is doing in my life!! As we start another new year, I am reminded of how many things that take place and how God orchestrates events in our lives that change our outlook and remind us of His goodness.

After I graduate this year, I have decided to take a “Gap Year.”  This is a one year pause between high school and college, or any other higher education / career pursuit.  During this time, one may travel the world, focus on work, or go through programs that are specifically designed around non-profit work.

After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to use my Gap Year to attend a DTS with Youth With A Mission.

Youth With A Mission is an organization that is dedicated to their mission statement, “To Know God and To Make God Known’. They started back in 1960 with the goal and purpose to get youth involved with missions.  YWAM has more than 1,100 locations in over 180 countries. YWAM works to serve the communities around them through various means such as, but not limited to, working with local churches, orphanages, schools and universities.

YWAM has several schooling and training programs year round. After persistent prayer about the when, how, and where of YWAM, it came down to the Revive Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Montana, Autumn of 2018.  Revive DTS is specifically “designed to help students realize and walk into their calling to impact the world for the Kingdom of God, as they partner with the heart of Jesus and his plans.”

Here is where it gets really exciting! The first three months will be dedicated to a lecture phase where my faith will be challenged and my understanding will become clear and sharp. We will also dig deeper into the history and apologetics of our faith. During this phase, I will be residing on the base in Lakeside.

Outreach phase follows with a two month practical in a foreign country where we will look to meet the spiritual and practical needs of the people around us. Some common locations include Thailand, Cambodia, India, Taiwan. The goal of this is to “share with others what I have just experienced myself,  while speaking the name and love of Jesus to those who have yet to hear.” I will be prayerfully asking God (along with you!) where it is that He desires me to go. I want to be obedient to His calling and His plans for my Outreach phase.

When Outreach is completed, as a team, we will head back to Montana for a week to debrief our experiences. I will then graduate from YWAM on February 8, 2019.

You might be thinking, “How did she come across this organization?” and it is quite simple. My mom, Kathleen, went to YWAM in Montana for a DTS in the Autumn of 1988 to focus on the performing arts and how to use it in presenting the Gospel.

Growing up, I remember she always talked about YWAM and how it changed her life. So the older I got, the more I realized I wanted to experience God in a way that would change me forever, like it did her. One thing lead to another and I filled out forms, asked for several recommendations, prayed and finally, got the phone call that I was accepted into the Revive DTS for Autumn of 2018.

Beginning this journey has been the most exciting and anticipated thing for me yet. God has already moved in tremendous ways in my personal life as I am beginning to prepare for this coming year. One of the ways is simply writing this letter to you. By writing this, I hope that you will join me in prayer as I begin this calling on my life and following through with what God has in store for me. I am well aware that God listens to us intently and invites us to come to Him with our prayers. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by and petition, with thanksgiving present your request to God.”

Another way I’m beginning to prepare is to ask you to prayerfully consider financial support for my missions trip. The total cost for this 5 month journey is $7,000. The total cost of this goes towards my complete lecture phase and covers the total of the outreach God will call me to. I will also be focusing on work and saving the money I earn prior to the DTS in order to achieve this financial goal.

If you feel lead to give towards this calling on my life, there are two different ways you can send your financial support. You can either give cash / check to my address or to a Go Fund Me webpage.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am very enthusiastic to see God’s will in my life in action as this journey is just beginning. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have, I would love to speak with you! Thanks again and I cannot wait to be in contact with you again.

Sincere Appreciation,
