YWAM Medical DTS - Ryan Ferragamo

God has given me a deep and undeniable compassion for the hurting. In just a few short months, I will be embarking on a 6 month missions trip with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). YWAM is a program that is dedicated to the ultimate goal of helping those in need, and sharing the Gospel with the nations. The emphasis of this journey is a combination of prayer, ministry, evangelism, and medicine. While we train medically, my team and I will also be studying the Bible together, and growing in our faith with the goal of bringing the Gospel to places that have never heard the name of Jesus. I will be attending Medical DTS (Discipleship Training School) at the University of the Nations in Kona, HI for three months where I will be trained alongside of a team to provide medical needs for people that have little to no access to basic healthcare. Some of the medical services we will be assisting with are small surgeries, vaccinations, dental care and basic wellness, to name a few. This program really spoke to me because of my interest in the medical field and what I feel I am being called to do. Some places/villages that we will be visiting have little to no access to medical needs, in addition to having never heard the great hope of the Gospel message.
During this outreach, my team and I will be helping the sick and weary at heart. Once my 3 month Medical DTS is complete, I will head out with my team on a 3 month missions trip to a destination that is unknown to me at this time. I know the location that we will be sent to will be challenging, but I’m confident that I’ll be prepared to do what God has for me. In previous missions, our school sent teams to Cambodia, India, the Amazon, and to Papua New Guinea.
I am responsible for fundraising to go on this outreach trip, and although it is an overwhelming, and seemingly impossible number, I am faithfully moving forward. This is always the hardest part of considering going on a mission, so I send this letter with a humble and hopeful heart.
I am happy to share that I have reached 10% of my $10,000 goal, and I feel excited and encouraged! If it’s on your heart to give towards my missions trip, there will be two ways you can donate indicated at the bottom of this letter. If you are not able, please know that prayers are just an important to making this missions trip successful and greatly appreciated.
Finally, my departure date is January 3, 2019 and I will be returning home June 2, 2019. Please pray that God would bless this mission; that He would provide safe travels, strength and endurance, and that He would touch the hearts of all of those that our team encounters. Also that He would give us the wisdom and skills to help those with medical needs during our outreach.
